Easter Greetings
Hi Everyone, I want to take a moment to wish you all a Happy Easter. I also want to share about something that happened last evening...
As you know yesterday was Good Friday or as the Czechs call it in their language "Velky Patek" (translated "Big Friday" :). In the evening I attended a concert sponsored by the Brno Fellowship church. I was excited about it because my dear friend Lenka who is very talented would be performing along with others. The program included readings from the Gospel of Mark and in between the musicians would perform songs that my friend Lenka had written. I knew about these songs because in the spring of 2003, Lenka and her husband, Tom, while in Tampa on a visit, gave me a cd of some of the songs that Lenka had written. The cd was made during a 1999 or 2000 concert but Lenka wasn't able to perform in that particular concert because she was close to giving birth to her second son so her friends performed her songs. I listened to that cd until I wore it out, and of course all the words were in Czech. I always liked the melodies and some of the words but I didn't know the meanings behind the words because I never saw them in print and I couldn't fully understand them. That was until last night. After the concert, I told Lenka (in Czech) with tears streaming down my face that God gave me a gift from her because I now understood the actual words of the songs she wrote (that I had listened to over the last 6 years). The whole evening was such a great encouragement for me because I have known the events of Jesus' last days in English but now I also understand them in the language of the people I dearly love.
Trust me when I say there are many peaks and valleys when studying and using a different language but I know that I know it is worth it. I appreciate you all and ask for continued prayers. I pray you will take time this Easter week-end to think about the "Greatest Gift" God gave the world that of course being Jesus Christ. Have you ever truly accepted this gift? If your not sure reflect on John 3:16 and humbly ask God to show or confirm that you have. You will never regret that decision.
Until next time take care!
Many Blessings,
Colleen
