So What is a Core Belief??
Hi Everyone,
During the two courses I recently took at CIT--Dynamic Teams and Sharpening Your Interpersonal Skills, the concept of people operating out of what they believe in was discussed multiple times. Our teachers referred to it several times as a "core belief". Many times people don't even realize what their core beliefs are and how they live out of them. That is until possibly someone says or does something that stirs a reaction within them. Even then they still might not be able to fully explain why they are reacting a certain way. It isn't always easy to put into words something that touches a person in the "essence area" of who they are. However the more we know are selves the better we can articulate those core convictions we live out of.
I've been challenged to examine and write out some of my deeply held core beliefs. In this process I am working on being quiet before the Lord and asking Him to help me identify those things that He has put in me. I've been going through a time of self-examination as I try to put into words what are my strongly held core convictions. I've also sought a few close trusted friends that I can ask to confirm if they've seen these in me. It is a fascinating process and I hope it will help me be a more effective team member and Christ-follower.
Many core beliefs and convictions are positive & helpful but we can also have some that are negative and unhealthy to us and to those we are interacting with. Pray that God would help me recognize my deeply held core beliefs and give me His power to change any that are unhealthy.
Until next time take care.
Many Blessings,
Colleen
